Open Source Blog

My views on the innovative Open Source High School are as follows:
-Excited about the forward thinking and movement of education in Utah
-Excited about the use of FREE and credible resources via the Internet
- Concerned about other state's acceptance and implementation of this new innovative trend
-Eager to see more states take up this movement of genuine 21st century learning

My concern lies with the politics that surround education and each state's right to develop their own competitive education system. With the common core it would be wonderful to incorporate, as much as we talk about it, 21st century learning. We keep hearing this catch phrase "21st century teachers teaching 21st century learners," I am interested to see how fast we will progress and how open we are to innovation as it knocks readily on our front door. Open Source tools are very useful and economically friendly, in this economically trying time. We can forget about paper droughts, and limited copying when we use Open Source tools on the Internet. I actually plan on downloading some open source software when I finish this blog because I find it intriguing: first the price and secondly the actual programs and what they are capable of doing.

*Open source: free online programs that can be downloaded to do a variety of different things depending on the Open Source downloaded.
